Little League Baseball and Softball Age Determination

For all divisions of Little League, a player's "league age" is their age on the appropriate age determination date. A player's league age is determined differently for baseball and softball players.

FOR SOFTBALL DIVISIONS ONLY

For softball players, the age determination date for all levels is December 31 the year prior to the current season. For the 2018 softball season, the age determination date is December 31, 2017.

Detailed year-by-year chart for softball available here: littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/Age-Chart-Softball.pdf

FOR BASEBALL DIVISIONS ONLY
Revised for the 2018 season

Little League International has again revised the league age guidelines using August 31 as the cutoff date, replacing the December 31 date adopted for the 2015 season.

For players born between May 1st 2005 amd August 31st 2005

The new age dtermintation date of the August 31st will be effective starting with the 2019 Little League Baseball Season for the 2016, 2017, and 2018 season. These players will use the April 30th age dtermintation date.

Little League's statement on the change in the baseball league age determination date is available here: littleleague.org/Assests/forms_pubs/Age-Chart-baseball.pdf (includes a year-by-year age chart).

You can also use the Little League Age Calculator.

North Snohomish Little League does not intend to adopt any changes to its division structure based on the revisions to "league age" described above. You can find descriptions of each division in the links to the left. If you believe your child will be playing in an inappropriate division based on their skill level, please contact the NSLL Board to discuss options at board@northsnohomishbaseball.com.
